Death Trap, Work, & CPK...

I got up at about 10:00, and went downstairs to put on some coffee. I heard Jeff stirring directly. He came down, and we had a little breakfast of bagels. He left at about 11:00.

I went to see the matinee of Death Trap at 3:00, the closing performance of the play Gregor is starring in. When Gregor kissed the other leading man on the lips, the lady two to the left of me audibly said, "Yuck," as did the lady directly to the right of me. When the kiss went on for a few more seconds, the one to the right said, "yuck" again, and again after another few seconds. She did not return after the intermission. Her husband did, and had moved to her seat, next to me. Shortly into the second act, Gregor kissed the man again, this time a quick peck on the lips, and the man next to me got up and walked out. So much for enlightened people.

I really liked the play, thought Gregor did an excellent job, and continue to be amazed at how he can remember so many lines, especially being in two over-lapping plays. Just incredible.

After the play, I went to work, and got a little bit of work done, and some more personal stuff. I booked our trip to Charlotte by train next Friday. We're going to go to country dance night at the Eagle on July 5th. Should be fun.

While there, Kathleen called to invite me to her and Karen's union on Sunday, but I'll be on the train returning from Charlotte then. Bummer!

I left work at 8:00 and met Robert at CPK at Southpoint for dinner. On the way, as if to make up for what happened at the play, a listener called into the Delilah program, and requested that Delilah play a song that she could dance with her daughter to at her daughter's upcoming August commitment ceremony. Delilah was surprisingly (to me) cool about it, and recommended the best song! Dang it. I've forgotten the title now. UPDATE: Here it is:

CHILD OF MINE

Although you see the world
Different than me
Sometimes I can touch upon
The wonders that you see

And all the new colours
And pictures you've designed
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine
Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild o-of mine

You don't need directions
You know which way to go
And I don't wanna hold you back
I just wanna watch you grow

You're the one who taught me-ee
You don't have to loo-ook behind
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, child of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine

Nobody's gonna kill your dreams
Or tell you how to li-ive your life
There'll always be people
To make it hard for a while
But you'll change their head
When they see you-ou smi-i-i-ile

The times you were born in
May not have been the best
But you can make the times to come
Better than the rest

I know you will be honest
If you can't a-always be kind
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine
Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a child of mine

Child of mine, chi-ild of mine
Oh yes sweet darlin'
So glad you are a chi-ild of mine

We had the yummiest dinner, splitting a Thai Chicken pizza, and a White Balsamic something-or-other salad. Yummy. We also split the Apple Crisp (with caramel syrup added) for dessert. Delish!

Robert followed me home, and we MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMed! MMMMMMMM it was good, and full of love.

After he left, I got a good deal of work done, and am now excited about going in to work in the morning, instead of dreading it.
