Cigarette Saver boarded at the stop after mine, but she didn't put out any butts (or ifs or ands for that matter) before boarding.
I saw the wife of My Three Sons again, once again a couple of blocks from where he used to board, so I'm guessing she has joined the group of other kids and mothers that wait for the school bus at that stop. I'm not reporting on her anymore as she seems to have reached steady state.
Logorrhea got on at a subsequent stop and although she wasn't at her usual ear-piercing volume, I had no trouble hearing her conversation. She was talking with a lady sitting across the aisle from her about the price of rent they were paying. The other lady mentioned that in spite of having two jobs (one full time and one part time, and working about 10 hours a week at the part time one), she was going to have trouble paying her $600 a month rent this month.
Thinking back on Logorrhea's story from a month or two ago about going to court because her own rent was late, I couldn't wait to hear the great words of wisdom she was about to offer: "What you do when it comes time to pay it," she said, "is don't."
She went on to "catch up" with this girl asking her where she worked. When the girl said the place, she said, "I applied there! How long you been working there?"
"It's a year this month!"
Logorrhea wrinkled her forehead as she calculated and then screamed, "THEY HIRE YOU INSTEAD OF ME! THAT WAS THE EXACT SAME TIME I WOULD HAVE STARTED IF THEY'D'VE HIRED ME. THEY NEVER CALLED ME BACK. I GUESS I KNOW WHY, NOW. IT'S 'CAUSE THEY HIRED YOU."
At the next stop, a woman with breasts the size of Texas boarded, dragging behind her the cutest little girl, who when she coughed sounded like she had water in her lungs. Mama's phone rang as soon as they took the seat behind me and she belted out like she was talking to the driver way up ahead of us: "NO. I CAN'T BELIEVE I SLEPT THAT HARD. I DIDN'T HEAR A THING. I JUST LISTENED TO YOUR MESSAGE."
We had a meeting of everyone who reports to my boss's boss today, so four departments of about 25 people total. Kudos was given all around for our Google announcement to campus, which is being received very positively.
Our weekly departmental 1.5-hour working meeting lasted only an hour today, as our boss had another commitment at 3:00.
At just before 4:00, Jen invited me to join her and a group of work folks for an after-work drink (or two, or three) at Sammy's Tap & Grill. Co-workers in attendance included Jason, David, Laura, Ron and then about five people from other areas of NC State that I didn't know.
It was a fun time, with these three things being among the most interesting: Jason's reaction to the fact that I was in an open relationship and what that meant, the fact that at one time Ron had both of his nipples pierced, and Jason and Jen's reaction to—and follow-up questions about—the fact that I'd been in a threesome with a married couple.
Casey was gracious enough to pick me up at Sammy's on his way home from IBM as I'd gotten a ride there from Jen.
At home, we had a boiled chicken breast for dinner, along with a (microwaved) baked russet potato and green beans. For dessert, we had a piece of Joe's leftover brownies from last night's dinner.
We were both kind of wiped out from the day, and Casey turned in at about 9:30, and I went to lie down until later going to to Flex to meet Alex and Bill. But, alas, it didn't happen. I woke up around 11:00 and I just couldn't drag my ass out of bed.
