Exercising, and a collection of short films at the 13th Annual G&L Film Festival...

Kevin (av8rdude) and I got the gym "out of the way" first thing this morning, from 9:00-10:15. I did upper body and crunches.

I met with some folks over at N.C. State today for about an hour-and-a-half, which was an hour-and-a-half well spent.

An interesting "Most Viewed" and "Most E-Mailed" NYT Opinion piece: For Most People, College is a Waste of Time.

Robert and I saw the collection of short films entitled, Out Riding Fences, at the NCGLFF, which included these films:

  • A Lesson in Biology (US, 2007, 23min): On prom night, 1968, in the Deep South, 18 year-old Tom confronts his biology teacher about dangerous secrets they have shared.

  • Trystan (US, 2008, 10 min): A teenage boy discovers that he has a crush on his piano teacher. [Very well done. Not one word spoken but the intricate conversation being portrayed was crystal clear.]

  • Just (US, 2007, 12 min): Two men learn that a casual hook-up is anything but.

  • Laundromat (US, 2008, 12 min): A young gay couple learn the meaning of “taking it day by day.” [Well done. Both funny and poignant.]

  • Solace (US, 2007, 15 min): A lonely young man meets his dream come true…but when he heads out for a late-night hook-up, he gets more than he bargained for. [Most excellent twist in the end. It looks like you can watch it in its entirety at the link.]

  • Lloyd Neck (US, 2007, 16 min): Alex has a crush on her brother’s friend Jesse, but he likes Alex’s brother Taylor.

Kevin and I met Joe at Flex at around 9:45. A game of pool and a game of cut throat. Kevin was only there for about 45 minutes, when he left to pick up Kurt at work.

Joe and I stayed a while longer, and then stopped at Shanghai Express on the way home. It's been a while since we've been there, and I had the Ginger Chicken with Green Beans, which was most delicious.
