World AIDS Day 2006

Today is World AIDS Day, and I remember all of the folks whose names were in my pocket when I rode my bike 330 miles over 4 days in June of 2003.

Tour de Friends Names

These are the people for whom I rode.
Some are living with HIV.
Some have died of AIDS.
Some are people who just needed some "positive energy" sent their way.

Adam Nadeau
Wes Sims
Michael Martin
Brenda Gibbs
Joe Stewart
Robert Kingoff
Stephen Hall
Robert M. Rector
David Flower
Susan Harding
Jeane Perry
Manuel Martin
Stafford
Kenneth Flores
Leon Watkins
Jeffrey Schmidt
Jeff Toppan
Bryce Wagoner
Donald Langlas

Two People Whose Status Is Not Public
All People Living with AIDS
An Entire Generation of Friends
For those who would like to ride but can't.
Those who struggle with family members who are not accepting of who they are.
Send energy and light to those family members who choose to remain in the darkness.

If you don't know anyone with HIV/AIDS or who has been close to someone with HIV/AIDS, meet these gentlemen. These are their LiveJournal entries from World AIDS Day 2005. [Kathy, a tissue alert is in order.]

Thanks to my friend Ian (bear_left) for these.

I got a great deal of work done on the data analysis I'm doing for Service-Learning. I didn't quitefinish it, but got close enough to finish it up in the morning.

Robert came over for dinner, and then ran to Blockbuster to pick up the DVD of Wanda Sykes' Sick & Tired HBO special.

OMG. Freaking hilarious stand-up. My favorite part was at the beginning of the section where she talks about how she watches a lot of porn when she's in a hotel room — and how watching porn can make you say dirty things. OMFG. Highly recommended.

Thanks, my sweet, for the recommendation and for ending our day with an ample dose of the best medicine.
