I received the 13-CD set of the unabridged audio version of the book, and before leaving for the beach, uploaded it to my laptop, and then downloaded it to my iPod.
In general, I'm finding it harder to remember the characters' names just listening, as opposed to reading, it. For instance, if you were to ask me, I'd be hard-pressed to produce their names, but once I start listening again, who's who comes back to me.
Joe and I woke up at 10, and I immediately called the front desk to request a late checkout of noon -- instead of 11 -- and it was granted without question.
We packed up as if we were going to spend some time at the pool before leaving Wilmington.
We checked out, and then stopped by Dunkin' Donuts for a bagel and some coffee. Joe had orange juice, too.
While sitting there, we decided to just drive back to Raleigh, and sit out on my deck to soak up the few more rays we'd've gotten by hanging out in Wilmington.
The trip back was uneventful. The traffic was heavy, but steady.
Off Gorman Street, we pulled into the Avent Ferry Food Lion, and picked up a rotisserie chicken for lunch, and some vanilla ice cream in which to mix in some more of those strawberries. which now includes some sweet looking juice at the bottom of the plastic container holding them.
At home, Joe sliced the chicken, which he ate off a plate, and with which I made a sandwich. We had potato chips as a side.
We had killer strawberry sundaes for dessert.
We laid out on my deck for maybe an hour-and-a-half, and soaked up some late afternoon sun. We had my docking station out there, and listened to tunes on Joe's iPod, including Melissa Ehtridge's Yes, I Am CD.
At about 7, I set my alarm for 9:00, and read the back of my eyelids. I planned to do laundry when I woke up.
At a little after 10PM, I awoke to find my alarm set for 9AM.
Needless to say, the laundry didn't get done.
