This is funny only if it's not true.
A work colleague of mine has been participating in the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind training program for several years now. Rob, and his partner Brian, take in a pup and train it for a year, and then turn it over to be given to a sight-impaired person.
Rob travels extensively for IBM -- it's not unusual for him to be on the road three of four weeks a month -- and he takes the dog with him.
Yesterday, on our internal IBM GLBT electronic discussion forum, he posted this entry:
Please join me... ... in bidding "happy trails" to Sarah the Guide Dog. I will take her to NYC with me for a business trip, and drop her off before a flight from LaGuardia on February 17th, and pick up our next one - 7-week-old Chivas" - at the same time. Chivas will be #4, if you're collecting the whole series :-) To each of you who helped in her training, we send a big kiss on the nose. Well, at least Sarah does. |
What an adorable picture.
Cherie Berry. You recognize the name, don't you? Elevator? Bottom left corner of the inspection certificate?
Though you probably can't resist saying, "Sherry Berry," my understanding is that she pronounces it "Sha-ree" Berry.
Anyhow. I see her husband died today. He's in today's obits in the N&O.
Do you like roller coasters? I do -- to an extent. I do think this one is just outside of my extent, though.
Here you go, take a ride on it in the front seat.
Okay, so far I've seen "Bareback Mountain" (crude parody depicting a love between a man and his horse), "Brokeback Squadron," and now there's "Brokeback to the Future."
Class was good tonight. Again, we spent most of the two hours critiquing each other's work, which was very helpful.
Go to sleep, may your sweet dreams come true
Just lay back in my arms for one more night
I've this crazy old notion that calls me sometimes
Saying this one's the love of your life.
[Chorus:]
Cause I know a love that will never grow old
And I know a love that will never grow old.
When you wake up the world may have changed
But trust in me, I'll never falter or fail
Just the smile in your eyes, it can light up the night,
And your laughter's like wind in my sails.
[Chorus]
Lean on me, let our hearts beat in time,
Feel strength from the hands that have held you so long.
Who cares where we go on this rugged old road
In a world that may say that we're wrong.
[Chorus]
I listened to the Emmylou Harris song, A Love That Will Never Grow Old, on my iPod both on the way to class, and on the way back. It's on the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack. What a beautiful, beautiful song. You can listen to it in its entirety here with RealPlayer or here with Windows Media Player.
I had dinner at Amedeo's after class tonight. The lasagna was most excellent. The bread was out of this world. The bill was a little too high for my taste. For $10.95 for the lasagna, the salad should be included.
Two Guys is a much better "value" for the money. It sure was delicious, though!
I got to bed at 10:00 tonight.
