~Saturday~ I was up at about 9:00 this morning, and after breakfast, I wrapped James and Myra's wedding gift and wrote out a little card for them. I did a play on two quotes that they had on their wedding invitation, one by James (JWS) and one by Myra (MGM), which were:

"...leaning back against me and breathing together as we watch the world grow old around us, sharing a swing on a porch watching the sunset, still holding hands." ~JWS~

"...may serendipity find us—not often enough to become commonplace, but often enough not to be missed." ~MGM~

Since my gift to them was:

(just the set of bowls, not the popcorn itself), this is what I wrote in the card, as well as including a gift card to Blockbuster for some movie rentals:

"...leaning back against me and breathing together as we watch the world grow old around us, sharing a bowl of popcorn watching a movie, still holding hands."

"...may popcorn find us—not often enough to become commonplace, but often enough not to be missed."

And then added: May your kernels keep popping for a long, long time. ~JM~

I arrived at the cookout celebration in Umstead Park, where I spent a lot of time talking to Sarah Ash, who I've only met a couple of times, but with whom I feel very connected. There were a lot of good eats as it was a potluck, including some delicious deviled eggs made without mayonnaise.

On the way home, I stopped at the Goodwill Store on Barton Grove Road over by the Target off Lynn Road, where I looked, without success, for a Hawaiian shirt to wear to Carl and Bill's "Tropical Party" later in the evening.

I did buy three hardback books, $1.00 each, all Mary Higgins Clark mystery novels.

Back home, I fell asleep for an hour or so, and was awakened by Robert's arrival around 5:00.

We left for the 7:00 party at about 6:40, and when I stopped for gas, I asked Robert to run into the convenience store to get me a quart of a particular brand of orange juice.

When we walked into the party, Bill looked at my solid, black t-shirt, and said, "I'm disappointed in you," to which I said, pulling out the bottle of orange juice, "Oh, did you say a tropical party??? I thought you said a Tropicana party!!!"

We had a good time at the party. Good eats. Good conversation. And we just loved "Truman," Bob's dog. Such a sweetie. We left at right about midnight.
