I worked from home this morning, and left, with Irene, at about 11:15, to meet Will, Milton, E-Ching, Amelia, and Courtney for lunch at Pipers's in the Park for an 11:30 surprise lunch for Courtney, honoring her permanent job offer from IBM.

We arrived just after 11:30, and found ourselves the first one there. At about 20 'til, Will and Milton arrived. A little later, E-Ching arrived.

At about 5 'til, I called Courtney's cell, holding off up to that point as it was supposed to be a surprise. Voice mail.

I tried again about five minutes later. Same.

Finally, at 12:15, I said, "I need to go," and so did everyone else, and as we were throwing our trash away, Courtney and Amelia arrived. Amelia had gotten lost. We said hello, congratulations, and good-bye. Bummer.

I stopped by the office long enough to scan my Chapter 21 edit for Chris, and give it to him.

I completed chapters 23, 24, and 29 from home this afternoon, while Irene took my car and ran some errands.

At about 3:00, Jay IMed me, and asked me if I'd be able to take him to the airport at 5:15. I said sure, and called Irene to ask her to be back in time to run to Bank of America (another attempt at depositing that money for James), and be back in time for me to take Jay.

Jay was late getting to his house, and I waited in his parking lot for him. The trip to the airport and back was uneventful, and we had a little time to catch up.

Irene treated me to a most delicious, and enjoyable, dinner at the Five Points Eatery & Bakery. She had pork medallions, and I had their famous meatloaf. We both started with the soup of the day -- New England Clam Chowder, and we split a slice of a delicious Bailey's Mocha cake.

Back home, we listened to "Amy's Answering Machine," in my NPR Driveway Moments CD, and laughed and laughed.

I went to Flex for Trailer Park Prize Night, which was kind of a drag, but not in a good way.

Donny was there again, and spoke for a few minutes to me, while I was thinking, "I hope this is not going to be an all-night conversation. He bitched a lot about what a bitch his bridge partner is.

I asked him about the difference between contract bridge and duplicate bridge, which he was more than happy to explain, complete with a lot of jargon while doing so.

Joshua (who used to work at IBM and now works for Wachovia Mortgage) said hello, and Donny ended up talking with him, and the guy that was with him, most of the night.

The show itself was not very good. Alexis Perry was the emcee, and you couldn't hear most of what she was saying, and this other DQ took over for a bit, which was even worse, acoustically, and wasn't funny to me.

Instead of staying there for another hour and being cranky, I left at just before 1:00.

To my surprise, Irene was still up when I got home, and she had been cleaning and lightly re-arranging my stuff.

We got to bed by about 1:30.
