I Still Believe In You
Artist: Vince Gill
Everybody wants a little piece of my time
But still I put you at the end of the line
How it breaks my heart to cause you this pain
To see the tears you cry fallin' like rain
Give me the chance to prove
And I'll make it up to you
I still believe in you
With a love that will always be
Standing so strong and true
Baby I still believe in you and me
Somewhere along the way, I guess I just lost track
Only thinkin' of myself never lookin' back
For all the times I've hurt you, I apologize
I'm sorry it took so long to finally realize
Give me the chance to prove
That nothing's worth losing you
I still believe in you
With a love that will always be
Standing so strong and true
Baby I still believe in you and me
This song came on immediately following that one, and I think it is one of the prettiest songs ever.
Whiskey Lullaby
Brad Paisley & featuring Alison Krauss
(BRAD)
she put him out
like the burnin end of a midnight cigarette
she broke his heart
he spent his whole life tryin to forget
we watched him drink his pain away
a little at a time
but he never could get drunk enough
to get her off his mind
until the night
(BOTH)
he put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger
he finally drank away her memory
life is short
but this time it was bigger
than the strenghth he had to get up off his knees
we found him with his face down in the pillow
with a note that said i'll love her till i die
and when we buried him beneath the willow
the angels sang a whiskey lullaby
la la la la la la la...la la la la la la la...
la la la la la la la...la la la la la la la...
(ALISON)
the rumors flew
but nobody knew how much she blamed herself
for years and years
she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath
she finally drank her pain away a little at a time
but she never could get drunk enough
to get him off her mind
until the night
(BOTH)
she put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger
she finally drank away his memory
life is short
but this time it was bigger
than the strenghth she had to get up off her knees
we found her with her face down in the pillow
clinging to his picture for dear life
we laid her next to him beneath the willow
while the angels sang a whiskey lullaby
la la la la la la...la la la la la la...
la la la la la la...la la la la la la...
la la la la la la...la la la la la la...
la la la la la la...la la la la la la.
I met Gregor, and his friend Liz, at Bistro 607 for dinner. The food was very good, but that place is so high-priced, I probably won't ever go there again unless it's another occasion for someone I care about. I tasted Liz's drink, which was so delicious, that I ordered one as my second drink. I don't even know the name of it, but it had a caramel taste even though it was green! I had a ribeye steak. Gregor had duck. Liz had salmon. Liz and I had salads before the entree, and Gregor had a crabcake. We each had a dessert and coffee. The bill was $161 before the tip. Way too much. With our tip, it was close to $200, and Liz and I split it. I totally didn't mind it, but wondered about her on a teacher's salary, though it didn't seem to faze her in the least. Fortunately, Gregor's worth it. We had the greatest conversation during this meal, and Liz was just an absolute joy to meet.
At home, I wached the last of the three movies Van and Adam loaned me this time, Longtime Companion. I wept for a whole generation of lost men.
Movie Synopsis: A touching portrayal of a close-knit group of gay friends and lovers during the 1980s. The men watch as AIDS begins to devastate their community, and try to deal with the painful reality of watching their friends, one by one, succumb to death.
