I came this close to buying a television with a built in DVD player in it, because the movie I am trying to watch on my computer's DVD drive keeps hanging. I don't know if it's the DVD itself or if my player is being too stressed watching two-hour long movies on it.
It's been over two years now since I've had a TV, and I really don't want one.
I watched The Son's Room (in Italian with English subtitles), which I loved. I found the mother in this movie particularly mesmerizing, and she, along with the father, the son and the daughter were all beautiful.
Movie synopsis: Set in a small city in the North of Italy, Giovannia, a psychoanalyst, receives his patients in a room adjacent to his apartment where he and his family, wife, daughter and son live. One Sunday morning, Giovanni must skip his weekly jog with his son to go see a patient in distress. When he returns to the apartment, he discovers his son has died in a deep-sea diving accident. Unable to accept his death, Giovanni threatens to break the ties of his remaining family. As each one mourns in their own way, a letter arrives which shakes the family.
I listened to parts of the Democratic National Convention on NPR streamed over the Internet. I tried to do two different crossword puzzles while listening, and botched both of them.
