"8" is enough...

~Tuesday~  After casting my vote during lunch time today, I went over to the Raleigh Little Theater, which is pretty much right behind the building in which I work, where they were showing—for free—the play called 8.

I wish everyone could see this play, and oddly—in retrospect of what President Obama was about to do later in the week—I remember thinking, "I bet if President Obama, being a lawyer, saw this play, he'd have to change his mind about gay marriage."

I can't imagine any of my readers will take an hour-and-a-half to watch this play, but it's available online, and if you're so inclined, I can't recommend it enough. It has some pretty heavy-hitters in it, amongst them being: Brad Pitt, Martin Sheen, John Lithgow, George Clooney, Morgan Freeman, Christine Lahti, Jamie Lee Curtis, Rob Reiner, George Takei, Jane Lynch, and Ellen Barkin.

REP produced this play at Cary Academy a few weeks ago. And while the cast did not include such Hollywood notables, there were quite a few of Raleigh's heavy-hitters in the cast. It was an inspirational evening of meaningful drama.

I should have spread the word and invited you and your crew to come along with me. I apologize.

Re: 8
I'm pretty sure this (at RLT) was the same cast that REP produced it with at Cary Academy.

It was the Playmakers (who also did it recently) cast, as I recognized Ray Dooley (appearing courtesy of Actor's Equity as is always denoted by his name in programs) from when I had season tickets to Playmakers (in what now seems like another lifetime and another sexual orientation ago). :-)

Speaking of REP... Sorry to read about that!

you have such a limited imagination these days John ;)

I watched this with my friends Chris, Russ, and Mark a while back. Think I floored everyone when I was able to elaborate on several of the testimonies because I followed prop8trialtracker.com as the trial was live-blogged. The video, indeed, was very powerful although it left out some of the totally incredulous testimony, oops, I should have said "testimony".
