and when I came back online, the first thing I saw on Facebook were two status updates in my news feed to the effect of, "RIP, Whitney."
My two most salient memories associated with Whitney are:
- In 1987, on a transatlantic flight on the way to London, Whitney appeared on the airline television station singing I Wanna Dance With Somebody, and I remember being blown away by it.
- In 1994, several months after I'd come out to my wife, this bittersweet memory lingers in my mind even to this day.
